Korea, Away is a video series that explores the Korean diaspora through the Korean Men's National Soccer Team. It explores the experience of always being the "away" team, even in your home country.
Who are we?
We are Emanuel, Josh, and Ray, three friends brought together by our love for soccer.
What is the video series going to be about?
The 2002 World Cup, where the Korean men's national team defied the odds to reach the semi-finals, was a moment of pride and bonding for Koreans and our global diaspora. It signaled to the world: "We're here".
Two decades on, as Korean culture ascends on a global stage, the U.S., Mexico, and Canada are hosting the World Cup. For many Koreans living here, this is an opportunity to welcome the Korean Men's National Team and be the "home" crowd for them.
The multi-part video series explores the following topics:
